John Lee Greenwood

John Lee Greenwood returned to the home of his Heavenly Father on the 20th of June 2012, after a long battle with cancer.

John was born on May 17, 1947, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Edward Lee and Johnnie Beth Greenwood. He graduated from Corpus Christi University in 1984, with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He was employed in New Mexico by the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety; Lincoln County Sheriff Department and the Capitan Police Department. In Texas, he had worked for the Nueces County Constable Pct. 6 and various agencies with the State of Texas. He retired in October 2010 as a Criminal Investigator with the Texas Attorney General.

He was a Viet Nam Veteran serving in the United States Army.

John was active in the Nueces County 4-H program, Bluntzer 4-H Club and the Nueces County Jr. Livestock Show. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley Davidson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Betty Fern Greenwood.

John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Laura Leigh Mobley Greenwood; son, Edward Lyell (Chrissy) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Brandi Schillick (Michael) of San Antonio Texas, Tara Greenwood (Marti) of High Rolls New Mexico, Lisa Greenwood (Jacob Gutierrez) of San Antonio and Samantha Greenwood of Brady; grandchildren, Liam Lyell, Aiden Lyell, Justin Schillick, Alison Schillick and Sage Greenwood; sister, Marybeth Turbeville; niece, Kacie Rahn (Steve); nephew, John Tracy Turbeville (Tina), and numerous cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Brady.
