On Monday, May 28, 2012, a large gathering assembled at Colquitt Williams Park in Rising Star, Texas to honor and remember our nation’s Veteran’s (past and present).  Skipper Ezzell once again officiated this program, and encouraged every one of all ages to continue the “tradition” of showing public support for our nation’s service personnel. Guest speaker U.S.A.F.(ret) Colonel Bill Libby presented a moving speech of “memories” (we all have them) , noting that there are few whom have not been related to, touched or affected by, someone who served or is now serving.  This nation owes a great debt to those who have, and are currently serving under our flag, ESPECIALLY those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in battle.

The Veteran’s in attendance voiced concern that this day will only be a “day off from work”  (as it is already for some) instead of a day of remembrance and honor.

A motorcycle group dubbed the “Freedom Riders” presented two beautiful easel’s of red white and blue flowers (prepared by Jana Hardwick of Hardwick’s Nursery) to honor all Veteran’s and one recent loss from our area.

The large shade tree couldn’t provide enough coverage for the well attended presentation.
