Graduating student-athletes from each of the 16 American Southwest Conference member institutions have been named as recipients of the 2011-12 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Award on their respective campuses, the ASC office announced on Wednesday.

The ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Award is presented to one male and one female member of the graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics and leadership over their collegiate career. The award is presented annually by the Faculty Athletics Representative at each conference member institution.

Jordan Hammontree

Jordan, a marketing major with a 3.76 GPA from Rockwall, Texas, is a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree.  Last season, he batted 308, his career batting average was 322. He is the HPU career leader in triples with 18.  He has started in 125 of his 131 games.  In 2011,  Jordan was honored as a member of the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team.  He also was second team All-ASC West Division, and was an Honorable Mention selection after his freshman season.  He is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta (Business Honor Society).  He was the recipient of the Outstanding Student in Entrepreneurship from HPU’s School of Business and Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities.  Jordan is pictured at top, left.
