WorkforceSolWCTWorkforce Solutions of West Central Texas is pleased to announce that 57 Brownwood High School students earned a National Career Readiness Certificate in May. Upperclassmen took three sections of the national assessment to measure their skills in the foundational areas of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. Based on their results, students were awarded a certificate in one of four levels: bronze, silver, gold, or platinum. This certificate serves as a common language between employers, job seekers, educators, and economic developers. It is also accepted nationwide and is good for five years. Funding for the assessments is provided through a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.  Employers throughout the 19-county region are also being asked to sign a letter of commitment signifying their willingness to recognize and promote the certificate during their hiring processes.

Assessments can be conducted at the Workforce Solutions offices or coordinated through a school/organization. The employer letter of commitment can be found on the Workforce Solutions website. Please visit www.workforcesystem.org/NCRC for more information about testing and employer support.

Questions regarding National Career Readiness Certificate testing and Letters of Commitment for Employers may be directed to Garolyn Jergins or Joanna Mullins with the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board at (325) 795-4200.  E-mail requests should be sent to ncrc@workforcesystem.org.

The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board is one of 28 boards in the state charged with oversight and policy-making responsibility for workforce and training programs in a nineteen county region.  Additional information on the Board’s economic development efforts or services for business customers may be obtained by calling the Workforce Board at (325) 795-4200 or by visiting the website at www.workforcesystem.org.
