Payten Dwayne Vaughn

Payten Dewayne Vaughn, age 18 of Cherokee, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012.  He was born on October 19, 1993 in Abilene, Texas and attended Albany I.S.D. before moving to Cherokee where he was a senior at Cherokee High School.  Payten was a member of the Cherokee F.F.A., played basketball, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He worked at odd jobs and at the Cherokee Feed Store.  Payten was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherokee and enjoyed the youth group at First Baptist Church in Cherokee.

Payten is survived by his parents, Terry Vaughn and wife, Raven of Cherokee, Texas; two sisters, Holly Vaughn and Lory Vaughn of Cherokee, Texas; grandparents, Ronnie and Dianne Vaughn of Bowie, Texas; his great grandfather, A. F. Graham of Newport, Texas; two uncles, James Vaughn and wife, Linda of Albany, Texas, and Todd Vaughn and wife, Heather of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous friends and relatives.  He is also survived by his mother, Genie Caldwell of Anson, Texas.

A visitation will be held at the Cherokee First Baptist Church on Tuesday May 8, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Payten Vaughn Memorial Scholarship Fund set up at Arrowhead Bank,  301 East Wallace in San Saba, Texas 76877.  Services are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Chapel, of San Saba.  Friends may sign the guestbook at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
