Many Brown County residents spent Sunday cleaning up tree limbs after a thunderstorm moved across the area Saturday night.

The storm brought strong winds, hail, and some rain with it and downed several trees, limbs, and a few utility poles.

Emergency crews responded to numerous calls as the storm moved through the area.  A large tree toppled in the 1700 block of 6th Street taking down some utility lines around 7:45pm Saturday.

Two utility poles were severely damaged at the corner of Indian Creek and the “Access Road” due to strong winds (pictured at top).  One pole was broken in half while the other was knocked over taking utility lines with it.

Emergency crews also responded to U.S. Highway 183 S and County Road 291 when a barn roof blew onto the highway which was removed by responders.

Numerous reports of sparking utility lines were also reported as the storm moved through.

Hail from pea to golf ball sized was reported.  The storm only brought moderate rainfall with it as parts of Brownwood reported receiving only a half inch or less.

Large and small tree limbs were being cleared out Sunday morning, but no major structural damage has been reported as of Sunday morning.
