America’s Fiscal Future

Since our current congressman, K. Michael “Mike” Conaway took office, the total public debt has increased $8,089,187,899,011.10! When Congressman Conaway took office on January 5, 2005, the total public debt was $7,591,307,997,129.40, and on May 2, 2012, the total public debt was $15,680,495,896,140.50. On Congressman Conaway’s watch, the debt has increased $35,013.04 every second! The bottom line, we cannot afford one more second of Congressman Conaway in office! He has provided zero leadership when it comes to the issue of the U.S. public debt. I have heard him constantly reference a balanced budget amendment, but my questions to him are the following, “When the Republicans had control of congress and the presidency, why wasn’t there progress made towards a balanced budget amendment?” Or, “Why can’t you and the other Republicans muster the intestinal fortitude to stand up and vote NO for more out-of-control spending?” The answers are simple. Congressman Conaway has no desire to stop the spending.

For example, in FY 2009 Congressman Conaway sponsored or co-sponsored earmarks that totaled $22,802,000 and $21,347,000 for FY 2010. Also on October 3, 2008, Congressman Conaway voted for the TARP bailout to give hard-earned taxpayers’ money to, what they would call, “too big to fail” financial institutions, H.R. 1424 (110th). Furthermore, he voted for S. 365: Budget Control Act of 2011 which raised the national debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion. Basically, he voted to give President Obama another blank check.

For our future, and the future of the America that we all love so much, we cannot vote Congressman Conaway in for another two years. We have another Republican choice this primary election, Chris Younts.

Chris Younts will not stand for the out-of-control spending that is auctioning off America’s future to foreign governments. He will take his sound business practices that he has cultivated in the private sector to Washington and vote consistently in favor of fiscal sanity. Most importantly, Chris Younts does not intend on making a career out of congress. He will not be held to vote for earmarks in the interest of lobbyists and PACs to ensure funding for his political future. (Congressman Conaway has received $2.07 million in campaign contributions from PACs!) His only interest will be the fiscal future of our great nation!

Please consider America’s fiscal future when you cast your vote on May 29th.  Our posterity does not deserve this fiscal insanity! Vote Chris Younts!
