Scene

A three car accident around 4:30pm on Wednesday occurred at the intersection of Main and Commerce Streets blocked traffic but did not result in any injuries.

According to the drivers of two of the vehicles involved the accident, it occurred as a large Ford delivery truck traveling east on Commerce struck a Toyota Matrix which was traveling south on Clements into the intersection attempting to turn east onto E. Commerce.  As these two vehicles collided, the Matrix was sent spinning into a Chevy Camaro which was stopped at the light in the westbound turn lane of Commerce waiting to turn onto Main Street.

The delivery truck only showed damage to the driver’s side door of the cab.  The Matrix had damage to both front quarter panels and broken front windshield and front passenger side window.  According to the driver of the Matrix, she had just gotten the car out of the body shop for a repair of the same side window which was broken after it was recently burglarized.  The Camaro sustained damage to its front driver’s side quarter panel.

Three occupants of the Camaro, three occupants in the Matrix (one of which was an 8-month-old baby), and the driver of the delivery truck were said to be uninjured according to witnesses and emergency personnel on scene.

Emergency workers were able to quickly clear the roadway, moving the damaged vehicles and their occupants into the CVS parking lot for their investigation.

In an unrelated accident which occurred within the hour after the first, a Hyundai passenger car rear-ended with a Ford Edge at the intersection of Austin and Avenue K.  The Hyundai (pictured top) sustained significant front end damage while the Ford Edge received only a few dents to its rear door and minor damage to its bumper.

None of the occupants of the vehicles involved in this accident were injured.

Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department, and Guardian EMS responded to both accidents.
