Brownwood Police executed a search warrant on Friday in the 2100 block of Southside Drive and arrested a Brownwood man in connection to recent burglaries and thefts.

19-year-old Jody Burns was arrested at the scene, according to a press release issued by the Brownwood Police Department Friday afternoon.  Burns is charged with attempted firearms smuggling and possession of stolen property.

The press release stated that the search warrant is the result of an extensive investigation by the Brownwood Police Department Criminal Investigation Divisions into vehicle burglaries and thefts throughout the community.

Police said that the firearms recovered at the residence ranged from .22 caliber to a Mini-14 assault rifle.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

The press release states, “The Brownwood Police Department reminds all citizens to remain vigilant in securing their homes, vehicles and property.  Never store valuables inside vehicles and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement by phoning (325) 646-2525.”
