Nina Dell Bundick Parker, beloved Mom and Mamaw, took her final journey home to her Heavenly Father on April 19, 2012. Though we miss her and want her here with us, we rejoice that she is no longer sick or in pain.
Nina, the 6th child of Claude and Alda Bundick, was born on November 9, 1948. Nina often talked about happy memories from her childhood, including milking the cow with her dad and learning to cook while helping her mom in the kitchen. As was common with a large family, Nina and her brothers and sisters hoed cotton and worked in the garden beginning at a very young age. Even later in life, Nina adored fresh tomatoes and black-eyed peas straight from the garden. Her extended family will always remember her delicious homemade hot rolls and her sweet tea.
Nina attended Blanket High School and especially enjoyed playing on the basketball team while there. She went on to achieve a long and successful career as a nurse. Through the years, she worked in different areas of the hospital, at doctors’ offices, and with home health care. Her tenderness and concern made her a favorite of many of her patients.
Nina was the proud mother of two daughters: Dana Fryar, currently of Ft. Stockton, and Stacey McClary, currently of Portland, Tx. Nina was a great Mamaw and adored spending time with her grandchildren: Lana, Landon, Ashtyn, Jacey, and Jaden. She had fun teasing, and being teased by, her two sons-in-law: Norman Fryar and Josh McClary.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Milton. She is survived by her daughters and their families, plus her special friend, Kris Parker. She is also survived by brothers Eddie Bundick and his wife, Sharon; Travis Bundick and his wife, Bobbie; sisters Alice McLaughlin; Fay Basssham; Ima Martin and her husband, Herbie; and Lanette Bundick. She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Rocky and Half-Pint.
Visitation will be at Heartland Funeral Home on Sunday, April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Blanket First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Rock Church Cemetery. Nina requested that memorial donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in honor of Dana Fryar.
