BrownwoodEarlyChamberLogosAs local elections approach, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Early Chamber of Commerce are each set to host candidate forums this week to allow the public a chance to know the candidates better before casting their vote.

Thursday, Early will conduct their Candidates Forum at Ranger College’s Lecture Hall at Heartland Mall starting with a meet and greet reception from 5:30-6:00pm followed by the forum that should conclude around 8:00pm.  The forum will have a moderator and a timer.

Candidates from Early ISD School Board as well as County and State candidates have been invited to attend.   For additional information on the Early Chamber of Commerce’s forum, please call Wanda Furgason or staff at Early Chamber of Commerce (325) 649-9300.

On Friday, the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly luncheon, which will feature a “Meet the Candidates” program at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30am until 1:00pm.

Chamber CEO Laura Terhune has been working with Republican Party Chairman Brad Locker to identify and invite the candidates for the various local offices, such as Sheriff, County Commissioners, and Constable.  Water Improvement District Board candidates are also invited to participate.

Depending on the number of candidates attending, each will have approximately 2-3 minutes to speak.  They will use that time to describe their experience, qualifications and positions on matters of importance to their desired office.

The cost of the luncheon is $12 per person to be paid at the door to the Brownwood Country Club. Anyone interested in attending the luncheon is urged to RSVP to the Chamber by calling 325-646-9535 or register online on the Chamber’s website: www.brownwoodchamber.org.

The public is invited to attend both events.

City, school board, and water district board elections will be held on May 12th and the Republican Primary will be held on May 29th.
