Grab your friends and join us for food and fun at the Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School! presented by Texas AgriLife Extension Service. This event will be held Thursday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Dr. Jesse L Tackett Auditorium in the Joe W. Autry Agriculture Building – Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
“While there are many groups who conduct cooking schools, we believe the Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School has a unique niche,” said Dr. Susan Ballabina, Regional Program Director for Family and Consumer Sciences of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
During the cooking school, everyone will see demonstrations of quick and easy-to-make recipes from the 52 page Dinner Tonight Cookbook provided by Dairy MAX. The unique book contains 10 meal plans and all the recipes including entree, sides, and dessert perfect for busy families. “We are targeting busy people who still want to make time for meal preparation and feel good about what they are feeding themselves and their family. Our goals are to promote family mealtime, teach families healthy meal planning and food preparation techniques, and promote Texas agriculture” according to Ballabina.
This event will feature county extension agents and Celebrity Chef, Darlene Walton. After 21 years in the catering business, Chef Darlene decided to follow her dreams of becoming a certified chef and graduated from the Dallas Arts Institute in 2005. She serves as an ambassador promoting the Dallas Arts Institute to high school students and has participated in the Dallas State Fair Celebrity Chef Show for 6 years. Chef Darlene is known for her quick wit and humor and will be sure to entertain.
All participants will receive a cookbook, gift bag full of kitchen goodies, and a chance to win door prizes including a KitchenAid Stand Mixer. The cost of the cooking school is $20.
