BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 3/12

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of March 4-10, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 22 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 4 fire calls, 1 hazardous material calls and 1 electrical call.

Sunday, March 4

*12:06am – BFD responded to a fire call in the 2000 block of Deepwater Road.   Fire firefighters responded to call of a chimney fire.

*9:30am – BFD was called to a fire in the 2300 block of Main Blvd.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find trash fire burning in the backyard.  According to the report, occupants were unaware of how the fire started.  The fire was extinguished.

 

*12:50pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 2000 block of S US 377.  Fire fighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.

*5:47pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 1600 of Avenue B.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find residents in their backyard cooking.

*6:33pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 4200 block of S US 377.  Crews were dispatched to investigate smell of gas in the area where they found several gas BBQ pits in the area which had propane tanks recently replaced.  All bottles were tightened and tenants were instructed how to check for leaks the report states.

Monday, March 5

*8:14am – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident at 15th Street and Brady Avenue.  One occupant was extricated from a vehicle and loaded into Guardian EMS ambulance for transport to BRMC.

*6:15pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 300 block of Norwood.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a gas meter had been struck by a vehicle.  According to BFD officials, the meter was shut off and Atmos was notified.

Friday, March 9

*7:37am – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of Austin Avenue and Avenue B.  One occupant was extricated from vehicle and transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Saturday, March 10

*2:14pm – BFD was called to an electrical problem in the 3800 block of Countryside.  Crews investigated arcing and shorted electrical equipment.
