Orus Will Stokes

StokesOrus Will Stokes, age 86, of Brownwood, Texas passed away March 6, 2012 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 10 in the Heartland Funeral Home  with Donny Pinkston officiating.   Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitations will 6 PM – 7:30 PM on Friday March 9 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Orus was born June 2, 1925 in Eastland County to Arthur (Dood) and Eria Stokes.  At age 16 he moved to Brownwood and soon began working for Marvin Flowers Garage at 101 Main Ave.  A year later he was joined by his twin brother Odus.  They worked at/ owned Stokes Bros Garage for 70 years, where Odus still works.  Orus was a member of the Early Church in Early, Texas

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Chloe, and one nephew.

Survivors include his brother, Odus Fred Stokes and wife Winnie, his sister Doris Johnson, nieces Betty White and husband William of Garland, Brenda Ezzell and husband Willie of Rising Star, Deanna Pipkin of Cisco and nephews Pete Morgan and wife Mary Frances, and Fred Stokes and wife Brandi, all of Brownwood.
