CadenBoyleA Brownwood Community Blood Drive will be held Saturday, March 3rd from 11am – 3pm to benefit Caden Boyle at the Abundant Life Church located at 585 W. Commerce Street.

Caden was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Ewing Sarcoma and is being treated at Cook’s Children’s Medical Center in Ft. Worth.  Through this blood drive, for every 4 pints of blood that are donated, Caden’s account will be credited for 1.

There will also be a bake sale and silent auction.   All proceeds will go to the fund to help pay for Caden’s medical and travel expenses.

Call Libby Hobbs at 325-642-2741 to schedule an appointment or go online to http://www.bloodhero.com/ and enter sponsor code:  caden.  If you would like to donate an item for the bake sale or silent auction – please call Libby.

Each blood donor gets:

  • Chick-Fil-A coupon for a FREE chicken sandwich – courtesy of the Chick-Fil-A in Heartland Mall
  • FREE cholesterol check
  • Points in the Hero in Me Rewards Program

To donate, you must be at least 16-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.   Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have a Minor Donor Permit (click here) signed by parent or guardian. People who have given at least three times with United Blood Services — and at least once in the past six months — are eligible for a streamlined health interview before their donation.

Donors are asked to bring a photo ID and donor card every time they donate. First-time donors will receive a card with their blood type in the mail shortly after their first donation.

United Blood Services has been this area’s nonprofit community blood provider since 1956, and serves patients in 10 hospitals in 11 counties. The United Blood Services network is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit blood service organizations, and is a founding member of America’s Blood Centers and the AABB (formerly the American Association of Blood Banks).
