leapinglionBrownwood Knocks off Graham 55-52 in a thriller at McMurry’s Kimbrell Arena Tuesday night in the boys bi-district playoff basketball game.

An exciting game waited for those in attendance with Brownwood being up 14 points early, but Graham tried to make a comeback late in the game.

Picking it up in the 4th, Graham was down two when they hit the bucket and the foul which would tie the ballgame at 42-42.

A few possessions later, Graham had the two-point lead, but Kaimon Ontiveros said, not anymore. He drains the three and Brownwood led by one, 45-44.

Back came Graham as they knocked down the three to go back on top 48-47. The fans were going nuts at Kimbrell.

Brownwood’s Marquos Barnes had the turnaround jumper and the Lions would hold on in the end to win it by a final of 55-52 to take the bi-district championship over the Graham Steers.

Game scorers included Marquos Barnes – 17, Bryant McDaniel -12, Derrick Johnson – 8, Kaimon Ontiveros – 8, Bryce Vickers -5, Braxton Kilgo -3, and Bryan Johnson -2.

Brownwood (12-19) advances to play Alvarado in the area round at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Weatherford.
