comptrollerlogoTexas Comptroller Susan Combs released sales tax allocation numbers for February which showed a positive month for all Brown County municipalities.

Brownwood’s sales tax allocations for the month are up 5.09% over February of last year.  The city is continuing to experience positive gains year-to-date of 5.5%

The City of Early experienced an increase of 1.49% in February’s allocations continuing a positive trend for 2012 year-to-date totals.

“Sales tax revenue continues to grow in almost all major economic categories and revenue has now increased for 22 consecutive months,” Combs said. “The recent monthly increase was led by the oil and natural gas-related sectors. Restaurants and services sectors also showed significant gains.”

Combs will send February local sales tax allocations totaling $708.5 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts, up 8.2 percent compared to February 2011.

The sales tax figures represent sales that occurred in December.
