Thursday morning Bob Clark of Brownwood was sworn in as Brown County Commissioner of Precinct 1.  Clark was appointed by Judge Ray West to fill the vacated term of former commissioner Steve Adams.

Judge Ray West stated that the appointment was decided upon this morning and Clark was sworn in around 11:30am.

“I talked to three people, each of whom have unquestionable character.  I was looking for someone who was apolitical-with no political aspirations, is conscientious, committed and a hard worker,” said West.  “Bob’s schedule and qualifications fit the job.”

A native of Rising Star, Texas, 63-year-old Clark comes to the office with ranching experience and service on the Rising Star school board.   He is a 1967 graduate of Rising Star High School and received a degree in Ag Education and Animal Production from Texas Tech University in 1971.

Clark has also served on the Board of Cherokee Children’s Home.

Clark and his wife Marilyn reside in Brownwood and worship at Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

West stated that Clark is soft spoken but is a strong leader.

“He is a hard worker and very, very honest and committed,” said West.  “He will not shy away from making decisions that have to be made.”
