Weekly Fishing Reports for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes as reported by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week.

Lake Brownwood

Water lightly stained; 54–58 degrees; 16.03′ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon jigs and crankbaits and on chartreuse GrandeBass 4″ Trickster worms over brush piles. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are fair on Li’l Fishies and crankbaits off lighted docks at night. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on cut bait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

Lake Coleman

Water clear; 57–60 degrees; 15.98′ low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are good on minnows and chartreuse Rat–L–Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel catfish are fair on stinkbait, nightcrawlers, and frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir

Water stained; 45–54 degrees; 37.94′ low. Black bass are fair to good on squarebill crankbaits, Rat–L–Traps, Texas rigs and 1/4oz. shakyheads with a 4.5″ RattleSnake. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair to good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers.

Lake Proctor

Water fairly clear; 54–57 degrees; 7.68′ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on minnows. White bass are good on small Rat–L–Traps and roadrunners. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with cut shad. Yellow catfish are slow.
