Santa2011

The 2011 Spirit of Christmas Lighted Christmas parade sponsored by Southside Church drew thousands to Downtown Brownwood on Thursday night to see the beautifully decorated floats and vehicles, marching bands, costumed characters, and even a flash mob.

The parade had 100 entries this year and concluded with an appearance by Santa Claus riding on a Brownwood fire truck.

KTAB News broadcasted their 5pm and 6pm newscasts live from the parade area and featured interviews of local participants in the parade and upcoming festival.  KTAB also recorded the parade and will broadcast it on Friday at 2pm.

The parade was just the start of a weekend of fun as the Christmas Under the Stars Festival is set to start on Friday and run through Saturday at the Depot Complex from 4-8pm each night.  That event will also feature photos with Santa, a variety of competitions, kid’s activities, live entertainment by local talent and much more.   Go to BrownwoodChamber.org for more info on the festival.

Pictured above is Santa riding in the parade with a couple of his elves.
