Christmas_Logo_2011The 3rd Annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival sponsored by KTAB News and 3M will offer games and activities for all ages, but the event is also geared toward helping local charities and families in need.

Donations for three local nonprofit organizations will be accepted during the festival on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd from 4-8pm at the Depot Plaza.

“The holidays can be a particularly stressful time, especially with so many needs and we hope to provide an opportunity for folks to give as well as receive,” said Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce tourism director Sunni Modawell.

Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted during this year’s festival to benefit Good Samaritan Ministries.   New toys will also be accepted at the event to benefit the Toys for Kids program who provide Christmas for more than 2200 families.   The Salvation Army will also be accepting donations of coats and blankets to distribute locally.

“One organization, one person cannot do it all, but if we come together as a community, we can make a difference,” Modawell said.

For more information about these donations or other activities during the Christmas Under the Stars Festival, go to BrownwoodChamber.org or call the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535.
