The driver involved in a single car accident on Thursday and was taken by ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center after crashing into a metal fence line in the 4500 block of US Highway 183S in Early, according to Texas Department of Public Safety officials.

DPS Trooper Mike Sams reported that the driver’s injuries were unknown at this time; however he was conscious when emergency help arrived and was able to explain what had caused the wreck.   The driver stated that he was traveling through the area when the accident occurred and took his eyes off of the road for a moment.

“He was messing with his radio and over-corrected,” stated Trooper Sams.  “He had some lacerations to his arm and chest.”

The Lexus involved in the wreck sustained significant damage all over the body of the vehicle, with some of its parts scattered in the yard and driveway of the residence where the crash occurred.

Early Volunteer Fire Department, Early Police, Brownwood Fire Department’s Rescue 1, and DPS troopers responded to the accident which was investigated by Trooper Sams.
