According to Brownwood Police, a 59-year-old Brownwood man was arrested after an indictment from the grand jury was received based on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age.

David Chavez Ortega was indicted last week by the Grand Jury after an outcry in February that led to the investigation by Brownwood Police Department of the alleged sexual abuse according to Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller.

Fuller stated that Ortega had incidents of exposing himself to the preteen daughter of a woman he knew.

“The offenses involved him exposing himself, kissing and inappropriately touching her during about 3-5 separate incidents over the course of a few years,” stated Fuller.

Ortega is currently being held in the Brown County Jail on $50,000 bond.
