Carissa Zarate and Derek Wilson led the Howard Payne University effort at the American Southwest Conference cross country championships this weekend.

Carissa Zarate was the top finisher for the Lady Jackets in 37th place with a time of 26:40.41. Howard Payne finished as a team in the 12th spot out of 14 teams.

Other HPU times were Abrianna Gutierrez 29:08.71, Amanda Gober 30:15.22, Jessica Bailey 31:16.45, and Tylene Middleton at 33:29.55.

Derek Wilson  paced the HPU men’s team finishing in 34th with a time of 30:08.15. The Jackets finished in 9th overall out of 14 teams. 

Other HPU finisher were Geremy Garza 31:26.58, Josh Snow 32:29.63, Leslie King 34:10.03, Quinton Poe 34:20.25, Bryan Anderson 37:48.35.
