Law enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, October 26, 2011.

Thursday, October 20

*11:05am-Brownwood Police received a report of fraud.   According to the report, the manager at the Comanche Medical Center reported that fraudulent calls were being made to the Wal-Mart pharmacy in Brownwood to obtain hydrocodone prescriptions.  An investigation is ongoing.

Monday, October 24

*1:50pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Belle Plain regarding a hit and run accident.  According to the report, the complainant stated he was traveling south in the 1500 block of Belle Plain when a gray pickup failed to yield right of way at the stop sign at Lakeway Drive and struck his vehicle.  He stated that the driver stopped on Locust Street on the other side of Belle Plain, looked back and then fled the scene, the report states.  At 4:53pm a BPD officer located a vehicle at the intersection of Avenue E and 8th Street which matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle and had damage consistent with the hit and run incident, police report.   After an investigation, the driver and passenger were identified and listed as suspects although they denied any knowledge of the hit and run, the report states.

*4:11pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a lost wallet via phone call.  According to the report, the complainant advised that he lost his Guess men’s wallet at Wal-Mart on Sunday, October 23rd between the hours of 10:15pm and 11:00pm.

Tuesday, October 25

*9:04am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Belle Plain regarding theft.  According to the report, the owner of the business reported that several exhaust system scraps were stolen from the parking area of the business.  The incident was believed to have happened during the night.

*11:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1101 Clements, Anytime Fitness, regarding found property.  According to the report, the manager of the gym stated that an all terrain bicycle had been left by the front entrance for two weeks and had not been moved during that time.  The bicycle did not belong to any of the gym’s members according to the manager.  The bicycle was taken to the BPD impound for safe keeping until the owner can properly identify and claim it.

*5:40pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Austin regarding an assault.  According to the report, the complainant advised police that her sister-in-law had been assaulted some time during the early morning hours by a relative, who is also related to the complainant.  The victim would not make any comment to the officers; however visible bruising was seen on her face and arms, the report states.  The complainant had not witnessed the assault but had learned about it from a third party according to the report.  Police issued the victim information about family violence and its victims.

*9:41pm-Brownwood Police received a report via phone call.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject stole $70 from her purse Friday evening, October 21st.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
