WTxInnovNetwkLogoThrough a special grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, Ranger College and TSTC West Texas received funding to assist small Texas businesses to increase their competitiveness, upgrade skills of employees and prepare new hires.

A special workshop will be held on Monday, October 31st from 1:30pm – 2:30pm to provide more information and an opportunity to apply for a training grant.  The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting this special session in their Bertrand Technology Solutions Meeting Room located at 600 E. Depot Street in Brownwood.

In support of the newly launched West Texas Innovation Network, the Texas Workforce Commission awarded $50,000 each to Ranger College and TSTC West Texas to assist small businesses to train new or current employees through the Skills for Small Business Program. Employers with 2 – 99 employees may receive tuition/fee assistance of up to $1,450 per newly hired full-time employee and up to $725 per full-time incumbent employee for training at any Ranger College or TSTC West Texas campus, as well as for on-line courses.

“This is a great opportunity for small businesses to provide employee training and upgrade the skill sets of their staff,” said Emily Crawford, Brownwood Economic Development Corporation Executive Director.  “A highly trained staff brings benefits back to the employer in the form of increased productivity and profits.”

For more information or to RSVP, contact the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535.

The event is sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission in conjunction with Brownwood Economic Development Corporation, and Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, the West Texas Innovation Network and Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas.
