A two vehicle accident in the 400 block of Early Blvd. sent one elderly male to the hospital shortly after 11:00am on Wednesday, October 19th.

A Ford Ranger pickup and a Chevy Caprice Classic collided leaving both vehicles heavily damaged, sending the driver of the Caprice to the hospital, and leaving the other driver with slight wrist injuries.  Police did not comment on the cause of the crash as they had just begun their investigation.

According to the driver of the pickup, he was traveling north on Early Blvd/Hwy 377 when the Caprice pulled out, possibly to turn south, from a business on the east side of the road when it collided with the pickup.

Emergency crews initially thought liquid spilled onto the roadway was gasoline; however the pickup had a water leak and possibly some contents in the bed of the truck may have had water in them as well, spilling onto the roadway according to the driver.

Traffic was backed up for a short period of time as Early Volunteer Firemen and Early Police officers cleared the roadway of debris and shattered glass.

Pictured above is the scene of the accident on Early Blvd.  Below are photos of the damaged vehicles.
