On November 2, 2011, Bob’s Fuels Inc. in Brownwood and the Railroad Commission of Texas’ Alternative Fuels Division will put on a free propane (LP-gas) training class in Brownwood for area Volunteer Fire Departments.  The Railroad Commission is the agency in charge of propane safety in Texas, and the class will be taught by Kent Watts, the Commission’s director of propane training.

Using and handling propane safety is very important to Bob’s Fuels.  The Commission’s propane safety training for local fire departments is designed to increase firefighter’s knowledge of propane and help them respond effectively in any situation.

Bob’s Fuels Inc. will be working with the Railroad Commission to custom-design a three-hour class to meet local needs.  The class includes propane safety topics ranging from barbecue cylinders to residential tanks and commercial bulk installations.  Participating firefighters will receive hands-on experience with propane equipment as well as classroom instruction.

John Gordon owner of Bob’s Fuels Inc. says “Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in propane safety in our community.  That’s why our company is committed to building a strong relationship with them by offering this free class.”

For more information on how to use propane safely, contact the Railroad Commission’s Alternative Fuels Division at (800) 64-CLEAR or visit www.rrc.state.tx.us and click on “Propane/LP-Gas.”
