Charlie Mae Kizer

KizerCharlie Mae Kizer, age 88 of Brownwood passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Brownwood.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, October 19, 2011.  Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Charlie Mae was born December 1, 1923 in Cross Cut, TX to Charlie James and Lula Lenora (Gafford) Newton.  She was the youngest of 6 children.  Charlie Mae graduated from high school in Cross Cut.  She married Charles R. Kizer on July 12, 1941 in Cisco, TX.  Charlie Mae and Charles have been married for 70 years and lived in Brownwood most of their married life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood and a member of the Topps Club. Their love continued to grow over the years and was stronger in the end than when they were first married.  Charlie Mae worked at the Glamour Shop in Brownwood for many years.  She also worked at The Fashionette for a number of years, where she worked with the young brides.  According to her family, Charlie Mae was the heart and soul of the family and took care of every one.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a fantastic cook.  Charlie Mae lived life to the fullest and was never afraid to laugh at herself.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Mrs. Kizer was preceded in death by her parents; her son James Richard Kizer; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her loving husband Charles R. Kizer of Brownwood; her daughter Pat White and husband Tom of Weatherford; a daughter-in-law Glynda Phelps of Collinsville, OK; 2 grandchildren, Shannon Kizer and wife Regina of Owasso, OK and Brandi West and husband Reed of Bedford, TX; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
