Hands on a House is one of the favorite events each year during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration and part of the event is a Food Drive which local elementary schools took part.  The winner at each participating Brownwood elementary school was treated to a pizza party.

Winners at each school were:

East Elementary: Ms. Matlock’s 2nd grade class brought in 205 items and the school’s grand total was 1362 cans.

Woodland Heights: Mrs. Blackwell’s 2nd grade 189 items and the school’s total was 900 cans.

Coggin Elementary: Mrs. Mosqueda’s 4th grade 100 items and the school’s total was approximately 300 cans.

TexasBank and Coldwell Banker also held food drives at each of their locations.

The food drive had two beneficiaries Good Samaritan Ministries and the St. John’s Episcopal Church Food Bank.  Over 5000 cans of food were gathered during the Hands on a House event.

This year, 11 contestants tried to outlast each other to be the last one standing to take home the custom built playhouse constructed by the Brownwood High School building trades department.   The house was built to commemorate an old area landmark; Lindey’s Drive-in which was won by Joey Broussard of Early.

Hands on a House 2011 sponsors were Coldwell Banker, TexasBank Mortgage and Brownwood High School.
