The American Southwest Conference today announced its volleyball players of the week and Howard Payne University senior Kristin Hammond was named West Division Defensive Player of the Week of the second time this season.

Howard Payne senior libero Kristin Hammond (Springtown, TX / SHS) averaged 4.78 digs per set to fuel a 2-1 showing at the ASC Dig Pink Crossover Challenge in Abilene, Texas, including five-set conference victories against East Texas Baptist and Mississippi College. Hammond, who takes the division’s top weekly defensive award for the second time this season, also added five service aces and two assists.

She helped the Lady Jackets rally from two sets down in each win and had a match-high 25 digs in a loss to Centenary.
