Jones Named ASC Player of the Week

player_Leslie Jones 2011The American Southwest Conference today announced its women’s soccer players of the week and Howard Payne University forward Leslie Jones was honored.

ASC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Howard Payne junior forward Leslie Jones (Mesquite, TX / North Mesquite HS) posted four goals to fuel a 5-0 conference win over Ozarks. Jones, who scored twice unassisted, became just the second player to recorded four goals in a single match this season. She had the Lady Jackets’ first three goals.

2010- Leslie was second in the ASC in goals scored with 17. She scored five game winning goals on the year and had hat tricks versus Louisiana College and McMurry. She was named ASC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. She was named to the ASC All-Tournament Team and First Team All-Conference. She was also named Academic All-Conference.
2009- Leslie led the Lady Jackets with 14 goals as a freshman tying for second in the American Southwest Conference to earn her 1st Team All-Conference honors. She had 5 game winning goals and 1 assist, started in 16 of the 18 games, and played 1,359 minutes for the Lady Jackets. 

HS- At North Mesquite High School she was a Technology Students Association National Finalist, as well as a 4-year letterman in soccer and 3-year in volleyball. Her soccer team was Bi-District Champions in 2006 and 2007. Her junior and senior year she was named First Team All-District, as well as her district’s leading scorer in 2009.

Personal- Leslie is from Mesquite, Texas. Her parents are Jeff and Kathy Jones. She is a major in Athletic Training.
