After a heartbreaking shut out against Stephenville last week, Brownwood Lions bounce back with win over Llano of 49-10.

“This night couldn’t get here fast enough,” said Head Coach Bob Shipley.  “We were out there making plays.”

Coach Shipley told the team after the game that they still have to improve in many areas; but he was pleased with the win.

The team had a rededication ceremony Friday morning bringing out old helmet decals as a symbol of pride and tradition.

“Old decals made them think about tradition and the level they are expected to play at,” Shipley said.

Shipley said that the decals were removed from the players’ helmets after last week’s loss to Stephenville and said he expected them to earn their stripes.  He also wants the team to know what being a Brownwood Lions is all about.

“We are on the way to becoming closer,” Shipley said to the players after the game.  “You are a band of brothers and that is important.”

The Lions showed improvement this week by playing a more consistent game on offense in the first half and were able to capitalize on several Llano mistakes in the second half.

Brownwood had 163 yards rushing and 154 yard passing in the game for a total of 317.   Llano had 220 total yards on offense.   The Lions are 3-1 on the season as they travel to play China Springs next Friday night.
