Pair of Wins for HPU Soccer Program

hpusoccerlogoHoward Payne University men’s soccer team forward Shane Cazad scored four goals in a 4-3 non-conference win over the University of Dallas Saturday afternoon.

HPU’s Shane Cazad scored goals in the 11th, 49th, 55th, and 62nd minutes to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 win over UDallas.

Fellow Yellow Jacket forward Jaime Benitez assisted on two of Cazad’s goals. Joseph Gardner assistant on another with one Cazad goal unassisted.

UDallas tied the match at 1-1 before the break, but Cazad’s three in the second gave the Jackets the lead for good. Kyle Huesing played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording three saves.

 

HPU improves to 2-1 overall and UDallas stays winless at 0-2. The Jackets will play next on Friday in Brownwood against conference opponent East Texas Baptist University.

 


 

Howard Payne University’s Allison Harp got her seventh career goal to lead the Lady Jackets to a 1-0 victory over the University of Dallas Saturday afternoon.

Allison Harp’s goal came in the 9th minute of the first period on an assist from Shannon Costello. Despite being outshot 24-6, the Lady Jackets only needed nine total shots to get the 1-0 win.Adrienne

Walker started in goal for HPU recording 10 saves in 61 minutes of action. Courtney Beene saw time as well with six saves in the 29 closing minutes.

Howard Payne gives UDallas their first loss of the season at 1-3 The Lady Jackets improve to 1-1 overall. HPU will open up conference action at home next Friday versus East Texas Baptist University.
