mopslogoBetter moms make a better world. Mothers of Preschoolers — MOPS — is starting up another exciting year, full of fun crafts, tasty treats, and time to simply enjoy being a mom. MOPS provides a safe, inviting atmosphere for moms in all stages of motherhood to come, feel the love of Christ, be encouraged, grow friendships, and receive instruction to make a difference in their home and in the world. It is a place to find community, resources, and support as a woman and mother. We begin our meetings with breakfast and door prizes, usually followed by a speaker, craft, activity, or game. Sometimes we just take time to share “mommy moments” with each other.  A few examples of past speaker topics are: women’s mental and physical health, finances, relationships, discipline, how to pray for our children, and getting organized.  We also meet in small discussion groups where moms have a chance to share ideas, thoughts, and experiences with other moms.

You may attend MOPS with or without your children.  However, quality, loving childcare is provided for Pre-K aged children — birth to 5 years. The children’s program, called MOPPETS, is where little ones engage in developmentally appropriate play and educational activities during the meetings so moms can feel free to enjoy their activities.  Children enjoy stories, free play, crafts, a snack, music, recreation, and making new friends.  All mothers have to do is arrive at MOPS, take the children to MOPPETS, get some breakfast, and enjoy!

MOPS is offered at three locations from September through May. On first and third Fridays, meetings are held at Southside Church; second and fourth Friday meetings are at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church; and for working mothers, the third Thursday at noon there are meetings at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Coggin and Southside meetings run from 9:30 – 11:30 AM.  There is a national fee of $23.95, plus varying costs per location per class; however, we understand a tight budget, so don’t hesitate to ask about scholarships or payment schedules.

Mothering matters and MOPS works to meet the needs of mothers through friendship, creative outlets, and instruction. Below is contact information for each MOPS group in the area.
