The Early Police Department arrested two subjects early Monday morning after they were found in possession of drugs and $2000 in cash after a traffic stop.

Early Police Sergeant Shawn Dibrell stopped a vehicle for a signal violation about 8am on Monday near the Pecan Bayou bridge on Early Blvd.    As Sgt. Dibrell approached, he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle, the police report states.  A burnt marijuana cigarette was located in front seat and further investigation revealed a bag of marijuana along with some hydrocodone pills for which neither occupant had a prescription, according to police.

The driver, 41-year-old Christy McDonald, and passenger, 46-year-old Bobby Clay Brown, both of Brownwood were taken into custody.   They were each charged with Possession of Marijuana Less than 2 oz and McDonald had an additional charge of Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 Less than 28g.

Officers also located over $2000 cash and information indicating that McDonald and Brown were going to purchase more drugs, the report states.   McDonald was also charged with Money Laundering.

According to Brown County Sheriff’s Office, both subjects were released Tuesday after Brown posted a $1500 bond and McDonald posted total of $9500 bonds.
