2011ReunionLogoA popular competition returns to the 11th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration.  Hands on a House will be back for 2011 and will give away a custom built playhouse to one lucky contestant.

Competition organizer Mark Campbell said that they are seeking 16 contestants for this year’s event.  Participants compete for the custom built playhouse by keeping their hand in contact with the playhouse for the duration of the Reunion.  Contestants will be provided with limited breaks during the competition.  The last person with their hand in contact with the house is declared the winner.

Campbell said that several special side competitions will also be added to the main event including a costume contest where the contestants dress-up and spectators vote for their favorite costume.

These side competitions will earn extra breaks for the winners and/or give penalties to the losers.

A canned food drive will also be a component of the competition and will have contestants looking to collect more food than other competitors.  The canned food collected will go to local charities.

Campbell said that this year’s playhouse will be built to resemble the old Lindsey’s Drive-in.

“We’re awfully excited about doing it again this year,” Campbell said.  “We can’t wait for Reunion to start.”

The building trades class at Brownwood High School will build the playhouse this year under the instruction of teacher Cody Smith.  The Hands on a House competition is sponsored by Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates; TexasBank Mortgage; and BISD.

The Brownwood Reunion Celebration will take place on September 16-18th in Brownwood and will span several blocks down Carnegie and in downtown.  The Hands on a House competition will kick-off Friday evening, September 16th on the corner of Carnegie and Adams Street.

Those interested in entering the competition can contact Coldwell Banker at 325-646-1547 and request an entry form or stop by their location at 1900 Austin Avenue.  There will only be 16 contestants selected to compete out of the entry forms submitted.
