Sydney Roberts, 14, of Brownwood, won the North Texas Junior PGA West Texas Regional Championship last Thursday at the Texas Tech Rawls Course in Lubbock.

The 36-hole, two day event teed up a field of 10 girls in the 13-14 year old division.

Roberts, posting a 90 on the difficult, 5800 yard links-style course, trailed Sydney McCullough of Odessa by 1 after the first round.  After the first nine of the second round, Roberts,

still behind McCullough by 1, surged passed the leader en route to a 2-over par 38 on the back nine and an 83 total for the day putting her in sole possession of 1st place with a 2 day total of 173.
