Otis “Boots” Bass

BassOtisA memorial service will be held for Otis (Boots) Bass on Saturday, July 30th at 10:00 am at Early First Baptist with Zachery Ailshie and Scott Higginbotham, grandsons, officiating.

Otis Lee (Boots) Bass passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Early, Texas.  He was 85 years old.  He was born April 17, 1926 in Union, Texas (Terry County) to John and Sarah Bass, the youngest of five children.  He Married Neva Pearl Baker in Anson, Texas on October 18, 1946.  They lived most of their married life in Brownfield where Otis farmed.  He retired in 1991.  They moved to Early in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cephas and Sarah Jane Bass; a sister Leta Mae Bryant; a brother Curtis Brannon Bass; a sister Johnnie Ozella Hill; and a brother, J.L. Bass.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Neva Bass, 4 children – Pamela and Bill Higginbotham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Judy and Steve Thurber of Dallas, Texas; Otis Bass, Jr. of Midland, Texas; and Jeanne and Eddie Ailshie of Early, Texas.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many family and friends.

Visitation will be at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas on Friday, July 29th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  A private burial for family, at Eastlawn Memorial Park will precede the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers Otis requested that donations be made to his church, Early First Baptist or your favorite charity.
