BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 7/25

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of July 17th through July 23rd from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 24 medical emergencies, 4 motor vehicle accidents, 4 fire calls, 4 gas leaks and one false alarm.

Calls of interest included:

Sunday, July 17

*11:17am – BFD responded to a grass fire in the 3400 block of CR 381.  Fire crews arrived to investigate grass fire which was extinguished upon their arrival. Early Volunteer Fire Department was on scene.

Monday, July 18

*8:29am – BFD was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 15th Street and Avenue D.  One occupant was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

*3:52pm – BFD was called to a gas leak in the 2800 block of 1st Street.  This was a call regarding a gas leak inside a residence with no fire.  Atmos was contacted.

*8:35pm – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident in the 1600 block of Avenue A where a vehicle struck a tree.  The driver was unresponsive upon arrival. Fire crews provided first aid and assisted Guardian with loading of the patient.

Tuesday, July 19

*6:42pm – BFD was called to a single vehicle rollover in the 700 block of W. Commerce.  Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.

Wednesday, July 20

* 9:37am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 700 block of Avenue G.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a tree branch had fallen hit a breaker box on the residence and broke it off.  Fire Crews used thermal camera to check residence but nothing was found.  Oncor was notified.

*2:30pm – BFD responded to a two vehicle accident with no injuries in the area of Clements Street and E. Commerce.

*8:32pm – BFD was called to a fire at the Brownwood Regional Airport. A twin turbo prop aircraft was cleared to land with smoke the cockpit.  The smoke was determined to be from an electrical short in the cab.

Thursday, July 21

*7:50am – BFD was called to investigate the smell of gas in the building at 601 Center Ave.  After investigation, nothing was found and firefighters responded to Woodland Heights Elementary for automatic alarm activation.  Nothing was showing upon arrival.  Fire crews determined that the alarm company had tested alarm. All units cleared.

*8:21pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 1300 block of Indian Creek.  Fire fighters arrived on scene to find the structure with light smoke showing.  All occupants were out and the fire was extinguished.  The fire marshal was on scene. Crews checked the house with the thermal camera numerous times for hot spots.
