BROWN COUNTY 4-H MEMBERS COMPETE IN COUNTY 4-H FASHION SHOW

The Junior/Intermediate County 4-H Fashion Show was held Monday, June 27.  The fashion show provides 4-H members the opportunity to display their skills in clothing construction, comparison shopping, and fashion design.  Participants competed in various construction & buying division categories to include dresses, single garment, specialty and sportswear/casual.  Other categories of entry include fashion story board, embellished apparel, jewelry and non-apparel sewing divisions.  Those winning at the county level will advance to the district competition to be held July 19 in San Angelo. 

Results are as follows:

Clover Kid Division:

Katelyn Thompson

  • 1st place single garment (construction)
  • 1st place jewelry
  • 1st place fashion story board

Junior Division:

Kayleah Hall

  • 1st place dresses (construction)

Timothy Hall

  • 1st place specialty (construction)

Hannah Hull

  • 1st place single garment (construction)

Intermediate Division:

Heidi Goforth

  • 1st place dresses (buying)

Te’a Goforth

  • 1st place single garment (construction)

Special thanks to JoAnn Crawford and Martha Baker for serving as judges for this year’s fashion show.  Congratulations to everyone and good luck at district.

4-H VOLUNTEER CONFERENCE

The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program will be sponsoring a state-wide leader training on July 29-31, 2011 in San Antonio to prepare the new generation of 4-H volunteers to lead and instruct our members. If you would like more information please contact the Extension Office.

A&M AGGIE LAND LAMB & GOAT CAMPS

Texas A&M is hosting a three day program dedicated to teaching parents and students the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, selection and showmanship. The Lamb Camp will be July 15-17, 2011 and Goat Camp will be July 22-24, 2011. The location of the camp will be in College Station, Texas at the Pearce Pavilion. The cost of the camps are $120 per camper and $60 per adult. Anyone ages eight years old and older are eligible to participate. If you would like more information contact the Extension Office.
