The Texas State Senate passed a resolution earlier this year honoring the memory and life accomplishments of area businessman, William Barton Harris who died tragically in an aviation accident back in December 2010 at the age of 67.

Senate Resolution 177 recounts the life of Harris and notes his involvement with local law enforcement; as owner of W. T. Harris Company; his involvement in the inaugural board for the local chapter of Crime Stoppers; and as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Family, friends, and civic leaders attended a ceremony at the W. T. Harris Company on Wednesday where Blake Woodall, District Coordinator for Senator Troy Fraser, read the resolution to those in attendance.   Former Brownwood Mayor Bert V. Massey, II served as emcee of the ceremony and recounted several fond memories of Harris.

Pictured above is Bryce Harris, Melinda Howson, Blake Woodall, Ann Friend Harris, Grant Harris, Robyn Harris, and Bert V. Massey, II.  Harris’ grandchildren also pose with the family.

See video below of the ceremony.
