4H_LogoDATES TO REMEMBER

June

13-17 – State 4-H Roundup

20 – Deadline to turn in Record Books

21 – District Horse Show in Sweetwater

27 – County Fashion Show at 5:30 pm at the Home Economics Building at Youth Fair Barns

28 – Steer Validation 4:30p.m.-6:30pm at Bob Clark pens

28 – State of Texas Lamb and Goat Validation at 10:00am at Extension Office

STATE 4-H ROUNDUP

Good luck to the 18 youth that are participating in the 2011 State 4-H Round Up!! Brown County 4-H has a Food & Nutrition Quiz Bowl Team, Food Challenge Team, Healthy Lifestyles, Horse Judging Team, Livestock Judging Teams, Consumer Decision Making Team, and Educational Presentations competing at this year’s State 4-H Round Up. Brown County 4-H is very proud of each individual that is participating this year at Round Up! GOOD LUCK!!!

COUNTY FASHION SHOW

The Brown County 4-H Fashion Show is set for June 27, 2011 at 5:30pm. The location of the County Fashion Show will be at the Home Economics Building at the Youth Fair Barns. The categories you can enter in are as follows: Buying, Constructions, Storyboard, and Non-Apparel. The buying category you can enter dress type and pant type. The construction category you can enter dressy, single garment, specialty, and sportswear/casual. The non-apparel category you can enter non-apparel sewing, jewelry, and embellished apparel. The deadline to turn in entry forms is June 20, 2011. If you have any questions, please contact the Extension Office.

4-H VOLUNTEER CONFERENCE

The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program will be sponsoring a state-wide leader training on July 29-31, 2011 in San Antonio to prepare the new generation of 4-H volunteers to lead and instruct our members. If you would like more information please contact the Extension Office.

2011 TEXAS 4-H GOLF CHALLENGE

If you are interested in being on a 4-H Golf Team and participating in a Golf Challenge now is your chance! There is going to be a Golf Challenge held in Lubbock at the Meadowbrook Golf Course on July 6th. If you would like more information please contact the Extension Office. The deadline to register on 4-H Connect is June 24th but still contact the Extension Office if you are planning on participating.

TEXAS 4-H ROPING SCHOOL

The 2011 Texas 4-H Roping School is set for June 19-23, 2011 at Tarleton State University. We are still accepting applications if you are interested in participating in the Roping School. The cost will be $380.00 per person, which includes meals, lodging, and a one horse stall. The Roping School is designed to teach beginning and advanced ropers. If you have any questions or need more information contact the Extension Office.

TOM GREEN COUNTY TO HOST A TEXAS A&M HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC

Tom Green 4-H Horse Club will be hosting a Texas A&M Horsemanship Clinic June 17-18, 2011 at the Angelo Indoor Arena (Formerly Bly Arena). The time of the clinic will be 8:00am-5:00pm. The cost for the two day clinic is $75, due before the clinic starts (non-refundable). Stalls and RV hookups will be available for a fee. If you need more information please contact the Extension Office.

A&M AGGIE LAND LAMB & GOAT CAMPS

Texas A&M is hosting a three day program dedicated to teaching parents and students the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, selection and showmanship. The Lamb Camp will be July 15-17, 2011 and Goat Camp will be July 22-24, 2011. The location of the camp will be in College Station, Texas at the Pearce Pavilion. The cost of the camps is $120 per camper and $60 per adult. Anyone ages eight years old and older are eligible to participate. If you would like more information contact the Extension Office.
