leapinglionIt all came down to an exciting game three for the Brownwood Lions baseball team on Saturday when they faced and defeated the West Trojans in the Class 3A area playoff round in Weatherford.

The Lions, with pitcher Graylon Brown, rallied for a 9-8 victory in game three after West took game two 10-1 on Saturday.

Brownwood goes to a 24-8 record and advances to the regional quarterfinals against 5-3A rival Snyder who defeated Mineral Wells in three games.

Brown struck out nine batters and gave up five earned runs on 11 hits in game 3.

Brownwood’s first run came on a two-out error in the fifth.  The Lions soon loaded the bases and tied things up to break the game open.

West rallied several times during the game to tie up the score, but a sacrifice fly in the sixth by Dylan Burleson along with a Vance McShan RBI double helped secure the win.

McShan was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs.  Levi Perez was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Tyler Edwards and Scott Kinzler made runs – totaling 10 team hits.

Brownwood will face the Snyder Tigers in the regional quarterfinal next Saturday.
