The polls will be open Saturday for elections in several rural Brown County communities including Bangs, Blanket, and May.

Early voting for these elections ended on Tuesday with a combined total of 120 ballots being cast in the Bangs and May elections.

Voters in these communities will be deciding the following races and issues.

Bangs – Voters will cast ballots in Bangs to fill two spots on the city council between three candidates.  Waymond Sheppard, Rick Phelps and Cornelius Hood will be on the ballot fighting for votes.  Eric Bishop is running unopposed for Bangs Mayor.

A special election is also being held in Bangs for the re-authorization of one quarter percent of the local sales and use tax to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of city streets.

The polling place in Bangs will be at the Bangs Community Center located at 406 Spencer.  Polls are open 7am to 7pm on Saturday, May 14.

Blanket – Voters will cast ballots to decide seats on their city council and school boards on Saturday.  Four candidates are battling for two seats on the Blanket city council, Jerry Bingham, Ben Cody, Jack Jones and B.J. McGinnis.  Judy Eoff is running unopposed for Blanket Mayor.

Two spots on the Blanket ISD school board are up for grabs with Kyle Kensing facing James Heard for the Place 2 seat and Curt M. Tunnell running unopposed for the Place 1 seat.

Blanket will also have a special election for the re-authorization of one quarter percent of the local sales and use tax to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of city streets.

Ballots can be cast for the Blanket election at the Blanket Lions Club located at 718 Main.

May– Voters will decide the fate of a $3.6 million school bond issuance proposal for the construction, acquisition, and equipment of school buildings and levying of related taxes.

Ballots in the May election will be cast at the May Community Center at 19150 Hwy 183N
