RufusHardinMuseumThe R.F. Hardin Museum, Inc. is hosting its 13th Annual Legends Celebrate the Legend Banquet.  This semi-formal event is scheduled for 6:30pm on May 14, 2011 at the Mabee Center on the campus of Howard Payne University.

The theme for this year is “Thirteen Years…Looking Back…Leaping Forward!” which is the essence of the ongoing quest to preserve and honor the institution that was the cornerstone of education for the Brownwood African-American community for more than 68 years.

This year, it is a delight for the museum to honor local retired professional baseball player and City of Brownwood employee Walt “no neck” Williams, as the recipient of the Willie Lee Gay Legends Award.  Since his retirement as a professional athlete, Williams has worked with the youth of the community.

R.F. Hardin Museum Inc. has been extremely grateful for the years of support rendered to this event from the Friends of R. F. Hardin Museum.  Continued partnership with these friends is the hope of the museum in order to “enhance the continued bond and growth of the diverse communities for which we all serve”.  This ambitious yet attainable goal can be best met through corporate sponsorships which are available in the following donor levels:

  • Gold Status:  $750-Two VIP tables (16 tickets), private pre-banquet seating, preferential banquet seating, and special recognition during banquet.
  • Silver Status:  $500-VIP table (8 tickets), preferential banquet seating, and special recognition during the banquet.
  • Bronze Status: $250-VIP table (8 tickets), preferential banquet seating and special recognition during the banquet.

Single tickets are also being sold as well at the cost of a $25.00 for adults and $15.00.  Attire is Sunday’s best or semi-formal.

For more information and to reserve your tickets, please call one of the following:

  • Marian Barron at 643-1613
  • Charles Low at 998-0773
  • Adelia Kirk at 642-4745
  • Gladys Bryant at 643-3195

Consider supporting the ongoing efforts in a uniquely Brownwood institution, the R.F. Hardin School, so that generations to come will be the beneficiaries of “Thirteen Years…Looking Back…Leaping Forward!”  Please visit the R.F. Hardin Museum website for additional information.
