The Brownwood Garden Club will host the 5th Heart of Texas Wildflower Exhibit and Plant Sale on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, at the Activity Center of First Baptist Church, on Depot Street across from the post office.  Hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  The show is free and open to the public.

A plant sale featuring plants grown by members will begin on Friday and continue throughout the show.  There will be free gardening literature, door prizes, and a bake sale.

Wildflower specimens of all the wildflowers blooming in Brown County will be displayed and identified with both common and scientific names.  Dr. Jack Stanford (pictured above), retired botany professor from Howard Payne University, will be present both days to answer questions and identify plants brought in to the show.

On Saturday there will be two programs.  Marda Keith, from Temple, will give a presentation entitled “Best Vegetable Garden Ever” at 11:00 a.m.   At 2:00 p.m. Connie Fox, retired horticulture teacher and an expert in native landscaping, will give a program titled “Landscaping in Texas.”

For more information about the show or the Brownwood Garden Club call Gilda Stanford at (325)646-8739.
