Law enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Monday, April 18

*9:35am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Bailey Street regarding a burglary.  An investigation led to a report being filed regarding stolen items that included a television, Playstation, DVDs and several other items.  A possible suspect has been named.

*4:09pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Oak Street regarding a burglary of a vehicle.  According to a previous report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject had stolen some hand tools from the trunk of his vehicle sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning.  On Monday morning, BPD followed up and found that the tools had been returned to the front yard of the residence and the complainant no longer wished to pursue criminal charges the report states.

*4:27pm-Brownwood police responded to the 1600 block of Melwood regarding an unsupervised child near the roadway.  The parent was contacted and Child Protective Services was contacted the report states.

Tuesday, April 19

*12:31am-Brownwood Police received a report of criminal mischief at the intersection of Fisk and Lipscomb. 

*7:18am-Brownwood Police responded to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding vehicle damage.  According to the report, between the hours of 8:45pm April 18th and 7:00am April 19th unknown subjects attempted to gain entry into a parked vehicle by damaging the door underneath the driver’s side door handle.  There is no suspect information at this time.  

*9:07am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Fisk regarding a vehicle which had two tires slashed.  The incident occurred while the vehicle was parked at that location between 8:00am on April 17th and 7:00pm April 18th.  Suspect information was provided and the investigation is ongoing.

*11:21am-Brownwood Police received a report of criminal mischief that is believed to have occurred on April 1st while a vehicle was parked at 401 W. Commerce.  According to the report, the complainant stated that they tried to buff out some scratches to avoid having to file an insurance claim, but were unsuccessful the report states.

*12:57pm-Brownwood police met a complainant at BPD who reported being harassed and assaulted by another Howard Payne University student at the campus of HPU.  An investigation is ongoing.

*2:23pm-Brownwood Police responded to a hit and run accident which occurred in the 100 block of W. Commerce.  According to the report, the complainant’s vehicle was parked and unoccupied at the time of the accident, which was between the hours of 10:00am and 2:15pm.  No suspect information was available.

*4:55pm-Brownwood police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center who reported she had been assaulted on Monday, April 18th.  An investigation revealed that an assault did occur in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive at 7:00pm on Monday the report states.  An investigation of Assault with Injury Family Violence continues.

*7:20pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding theft of gas.  According to the report, the total gas stolen was valued at $24.11.  A suspect has been identified; however, there was no arrest at the time of the report.

*10:22pm-Brownwood police stopped a vehicle at Austin Avenue and Avenue C for a traffic violation.  According to the report, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Randi Lee Helge of Taylor, Texas was found to be intoxicated.  Helge failed sobriety tests according to police and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Wednesday, April 20

*Early Police arrested 36-year-old Manuel Gomez, III, 25-year-old Maribel Mireles Mascorro, 28-year-old Roy Lee Ortega, and 31-year-old Monica Rene Ortega Sanford.  All four were charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 1 equal or less than 1g Drug Free Zone. Gomez received an additional charge of Prohibited Weapon.  Details of the arrest are pending as of Wednesday evening.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
