BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 4/19

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of April 10th through April 16th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 14 medical emergencies, 0 motor vehicle accidents, 12 fire calls and 1 electrical line hazard call.

Calls of interest included:

Sunday, April 10

*11:24pm – BFD responded to a fire call on Brick Street.  Fire fighters arrived on scene to find the rain had put the fire out.

*11:58pm – BFD as dispatched to a fire call which after investigation was determined to be a false alarm.

Monday, April 11

*12:46pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 3300 block of Stephen F. Austin.  The incident was determined to be a defective circuit.

*2:18pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1700 block of Austin Avenue.  Fire fighters arrived on scene to find leaves burning beside the building.  The fire was determined to have been caused by a tossed cigarette.  Fire fighters extinguished fire.

Tuesday, April 11

*12:00am – BFD responded to a report of smoke in the area of 6th Street & Avenue H.  The incident was determined to be smoke from a barbeque.

*1:55pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call at 3308 1st Street. Fire fighters arrived on scene to find a single story home with heavy fire coming from roof.  Fire Fighters entered house to extinguish the fire.

*4:54pm – BFD was called to a grass fire in the 1700 block of Austin Avenue.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a small pile of leaves on fire.  Fire Fighters extinguished fire.

*7:54pm – BFD responded to a vehicle fire in the area of 2nd Street and Fisk Avenue.  Arrived on scene to find fire was out.

Wednesday, April 13

*3:34am – BFD was dispatched on a fire call 3308 1st Street, a home which caught fire the afternoon before.  The early morning fire completely destroyed the remainder of the home.

*7:58pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 1400 block of Avenue B.  The incident was determined to be an outside fire.   Tree limbs were being burned in an open pit.   Fire was extinguished and the resident was advised of the city ordinance violated.

Thursday, April 14

*5:07pm – BFD was dispatched to an outside fire in the 1600 block of Indian Creek.  A small pile of leaves were found to be burning.   The fire was quickly extinguished.

Friday, April 15

*1:40am – BFD was called to a fire in the area of Austin Avenue and Hall.  The fire from chimenea spread to the ground and an out building.  The fire was extinguished by Fire Fighters.

*3:44pm – BFD responded to a grass fire at CR 173 & FM 1689 in Comanche where multiple units responded to a large grass fire.

*4:27pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 200 block of W. Commerce Street.  Fire fighters arrived on scene to find trash next to a shed was on fire.  The fire was extinguished and the shed was ventilated and checked for hot spots.

*9:09pm – BFD responded to a power line that was arcing in the 2100 block of Slayden Street.  Oncor was notified.

*11:56pm – BFD was called to investigate the odor of smoke at Austin Avenue & Magnolia.  The odor was determined to be caused from multiple grass fires in the area.

Saturday, April 16

*2:42pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 1100 block of Santa Clara.  Fire fighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from attic of home.  Firefighters were informed that there was an occupant still in the house.  Fire Fighter Posey removed occupant from house.   The fire was extinguished and the fire marshal was contacted.
