Shipley & Humfeld – Man and Woman of the Year, Underwood Honored for Lifetime of Service

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet Thursday night at the Brownwood Coliseum where they announced their annual community awards, kicked off their new fiscal year, and introduced their new board presidnet, Dr. Don Bostic.

The annual community awards are always the highlight of the event as the man of the year, woman of the year, and the Groner Pitts “Lifetime of Service” awards are announced along with many other awards and recognitions.

Head Coach and Athletic Director of the Brownwood Lions Bob Shipley was honored as Man of the Year not only for his work on the field, but for his service to the community.  Shipley is presented his award by last year’s recipient Frank Hilton.

Nancy Jo Humfeld received Woman of the Year for 2011.  Humfeld is the head of the department of communications and theatre and director of theatre at Howard Payne University.  She is also a founding member of the Lyric Performing Arts Company.   Humfeld (right) is presented the award by last year’s recipient, Ann Jones (left).

Retiring Brownwood Economic Development Corporation Executive Director James Campbell was awarded Professional of the Year for 2011.  Campbell (right) is presented with his award by Chamber Past President Gregg Rice.

Community Partner award presented to outstanding non-profit goes to Southside Church.  Chamber board  Past President Gregg Rice presents Southside Church pastor Alan Morris with the award.

Volunteer of the Year for 2011 was awarded to Al Kramer for outstanding community service as a volunteer.  Accepting the award for her husband was Terry Kramer.

Brownwood Chamber Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Ray Garza (right) for giving time and talent to assist in Chamber events.  Presenting the Award is Clint Patrick, President of the Ambassadors.
